A Stitch Journal, the book that lives with you

Unlike many arts and crafts projects, a Stitch Journal breathes and grows along with your life. It's not a project with a set finish line, and there are no mistakes.

It's a book you return to, on a Tuesday evening, on a train, at the kitchen table while the pasta water heats up. An "in-between-projects" project of sorts, one that can travel with you through time and space.

Mine has travelled with me for years now. It holds places I've been, colours and shapes I couldn't stop thinking about, words I needed to read that week, and a lot of experimental, random stitches that felt good in the moment.

Much like a regular paper journal, the point is the experience: getting your thoughts and feelings out of your system and onto something concrete. I try to start my mornings with five minutes of stitchery alongside my morning coffee, and it always grounds me into the day.

Some days I stitch for hours, others not at all, and it's all okay. That's part of the creative life.

What you'll learn

The class is structured as a stitch-along to put your first journal together.

There are no rules as to what you put into those pages. That space is for your creative freedom.

Complete beginners and seasoned stitchers who got hooked on the idea: all are welcome and will find great value. We start from the very first stitch.

No special materials to order in. A drawer of odds and ends is ideal: leftover linen, an old cotton shirt or curtain, the thread from a project you never quite finished, and a hard-cover book you've thrifted or already read, so you can take out the paper pages in peace.

From people who've made one

These are the messages that make my week 💜

Comment from les.folies.de.zaza: I made the book. Thank you for the very good instructions in your workshop. Now I can start embroidering.
A message from Anna: Hi! I just finished my second journal so now I am ready to start my embroidery, I'm so incredibly thankful for every word you inspire me with.
Comment from cheltenchance: I've just started. I'm tickled pink with the idea. No pressure to get a project done. No making stuff I never use. Just the thread and fabric making me happy.
Comment from restorationfarmsteadky: I made one earlier this week and I am having so much fun with it. Playing, dreaming with no pressure. Thanks for the fabulous idea.
